Glasgow Ultimate

SWIFT are the Scottish womens club team comprised of female ultimate players from all over the country, including several Glasgow based members. We compete primarily in the Womens Tour, the major UK competition for womens ultimate, made up of three tournaments throughout the summer. In 2009 we developed a large squad and welcomed many new players to the team.

Despite mixed results at Tour 1 we finished 8th, more importantly, we developed as a team and figured out how to improve at the next event. At Tour 2 in Brighton we produced some of our strongest performances, the result of extra training sessions and a dedicated core group of players. Our structured defense and smooth offense led to convincing wins over Dirty Olive and Crown Jewels, both of whom had defeated us at the previous tournament. We finished in 6th position and moved up to 7th overall in the Tour. SWIFT sent a relatively inexperienced team to Tour 3 but still managed to take 8th place and consolidate our position in the top 8 of UK womens ultimate.

In 2010 SWIFT will return to compete at Tour and will also enter 2 teams in the UK indoor championships. Training is ongoing throughout the year and we are always looking to recruit more girls to the team.
